Sometimes living in a huge loft can make decorating the walls a tad difficult. The solution for this client was to work their storage needs into artisan cabinets. This cabinet set needed to provide office and home entertainment storage, provide functional and mood lighting and be movable if the owner ever wanted to relocate them (which they did when they moved). Six pieces in total, made of Jatoba and Purple Heart hardwood species. These pieces were designed to complement the risers on the staircase opposite them. They rest an inch off the wall on french cleats to appear as if they are floating. To support the open airy feeling of the space, half the cabinets were left open without doors. The wood tones match and collaborate with the existing furnishing, decor, and wood grains currently existing in the home. The final product was more than a place to store pencils and video consoles, its presence warms and enriches this home as a wall hanging sculpture installation.
